An article in Publishers Weekly this week said that e-book sales rose 81.2% in October, to $72.8 million. This number came from 20 publishers who supply e-book figures to the Association of American Publishers monthly sales report.
The number sounds good, but they have actually dropped since the first 10 months of last year when they had doubled each month and for the first 10 months of the year and e-book sales were up 131.1%.
What these numbers do not include are indi and self-published books, which is what most Authors are keeping an eye on. So I guess as we go into the new year, we will just have to wait and see what this all means for authors, and I can predict that this time next year we should have the answer.
